Interface And Basic Features

With Videoyork you are not immediately taken to the chat page. Their main page is very well organized and sleek however, giving the impression that they are a high quality webcam chat site. They display some of their key features and explain the basics in a very quick and simple way to let you know how Videoyork differs from other video feed sites.

The main feature they offer is its integration with Facebook, as you must login with your Facebook account in order to use their services. The purpose of this is to provide some level of security for the users since it filters out many of the people who wish to conceal their identity as much as possible. It is not a flawless system, however, since Facebook is not completely secure either. They do offer an additional feature though, that we find convenient and helps make up for some of the security issues that may arise. Questionable users will have their videos blurred so that while the site works on expelling these users from using the sight you are shielded from any inappropriate content. This also gives you fair warning so that you can quickly hit the Next button and find someone else more worth talking to.

While you are being connected to random strangers, there is far less anonymity on this webcam site. You can move your mouse over your contacts video, for example, and view their name, gender and location so you have a better idea of who you’re talking to before you even officially start the chat.

Now, while Videoyork seems to have better security and better quality than some of the webcam chat sites out there it seems to have some negative points. Immediately, in our testing, an adult content ad popped up at the bottom of the screen. Plus, their supposed screenshots of their webcam chat experience are obviously professionally done. It is highly unlikely that you could get that quality of an image from a webcam or the lighting in many of the shots.

The Final Verdict

If you are fine with a webcam application that connects with your Facebook account, then we recommend at least giving this website’s service a try. It does not save your information so it’s relatively private and the additional security you can get from a site like this is worth it.
